Amanda is a licensed teacher in New York and New Hampshire for babies through second grade. She has been practicing yoga for almost three years and started trying out some yoga in her preschool classrooms. It was so much fun! Amanda also runs a parenting consulting company, offering a straight-foward, no-nonsense (yet loving and playful approach) to parenting.
We were thrilled to talk to Amanda about her journey with Pretzel Kids yoga.
Here's what she had to say:
Pretzel Kids: Can you tell us a bit more about your path to teaching kids yoga classes?
Amanda: I met Pretzel Kids Yoga Founder Robyn Parets, and once we talked about my parent consulting business, we knew Pretzel Kids yoga would be a great compliment to the work I currently do. I can now work both privately with families in the comfort of their own homes, and teach kids yoga in a school environment.
Pretzel Kids: Tell us something fun about you
Amanda: I LOVE to dance and I enjoy having dance party with clients!
Pretzel Kids: What do you like to do in your spare time?
Amanda: Fitness is a lifestyle for me so you can find me going for a run, practicing yoga, playing with my dog, or spending time with family and friends.
Pretzel Kids: What drew you to the online Pretzel Kids Yoga Teacher Certification course?
Amanda: I understand the importance of teaching children mindfulness. I know the importance of teaching children yoga techniques so they can practice self-calming strategies. This helps kids build their social emotional development. I love that I can cater the Pretzel Kids curriculum to early childhood in a fun and creative way.
Pretzel Kids: What is your favorite thing (or two) about the course?
Amanda: I enjoy learning fun child appropriate yoga poses that keep children engaged.
Pretzel Kids: Do you feel prepared to teach children's yoga?
Amanda: Yes, teaching children is my background and yoga is my love!
Pretzel Kids: How do you hope to make a positive impact with the Pretzel Kids yoga curriculum?
Amanda: I'd like to take advantage of any opportunity to teach children ways they can take care of themselves through mind, body, and soul while having fun. I know first-hand the positive impact it can have on children and their environment.
Pretzel Kids: You had the opportunity to create a couple of Pretzel Kids yoga lesson plans as part of your certification process. What was this creative process like?
Amanda: I have been creating lesson plans for years so the creative process is a lot of fun and allows my inner child to come out and play! Having experience creating Pretzel Kids lesson plans made the experience easier and more fun.
Pretzel Kids: Would you recommend the Pretzel Kids kids yoga teacher training course to friends, moms, childcare providers and yoga teachers?
Amanda: I highly recommend Pretzel Kids and the curriculum. I feel all kids should learn and there is no other program like it!
Pretzel Kids: What's your favorite Pretzel Kids yoga pose?
Amanda: My favorite pose is baby and snowball as I enjoy doing child’s pose and happy baby in my adult classes too!
Pretzel Kids: What's your favorite Pretzel Kids yoga game? What's your favorite Pretzel Kids yoga theme?
Amanda: My favorite theme is ocean/beach! Water is my serenity so I have fun with it! My favorite game is “thank you body” to instill gratitude. I also like any of the “follow the leader” themes.
Pretzel Kids: Drumroll…..What's your favorite food?
Amanda: NY pizza!
