Today is International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It also marks a call to action for gender parity.
What better day to announce that Pretzel Kids is funded!
As Frances McDormand eloquently stated during her Oscar speech: “Look around everybody….We all have stories to tell and projects we need financed. Invite us into your office….and we’ll tell you all about them.”
Boy, does this ring true for me and every female entrepreneur who has ever tried to get a company funded or project off the ground. But, I’m here to tell you that you can and should launch that company that you've been thinking about for years.
We did it! And so can you!
Indeed, the gender funding gap is real. Less than three percent of venture capital financing goes to women entrepreneurs. Yet, with your support, we were inspired to seek the financing we need to make our project a reality. It took us one month. That's it.
On February 9, we publicly launched our campaign with iFund Women. And here we are, on International Women’s Day, with more than $5,000 in the coffer - thanks to our generous backers. Our campaign doesn’t close until March 31 and we hope you’ll continue to fuel our mission so that we can #armteacherswithpeace.
In fact, we already have three Boston public school teachers lined up and waiting to apply for our pilot program!
From Idea to Company
For those who have been following Pretzel Kids’ journey, you know that this has been a long road.
Pretzel Kids started as a small yoga program in 2005. Ten years ago, we developed a curriculum and began offering weekend teacher trainings (next up: train with us on April 7-8 at South Boston Yoga). In 2016, we launched our online Pretzel Kids Teacher Training school, giving adults around the globe the opportunity to become a certified Pretzel Kids teacher in less than 10 hours - for less than $300.
This is our way of #payingitforward. While we grow and expand our offerings, we want to give you a way to earn money doing good in the world: teaching kids yoga. At the same time, we want to give you a way to learn a new skill and launch a career or side hustle - without any extensive training or prohibitive costs.
We Celebrate You!
We know first-hand that success doesn’t happen overnight (at least not for most of us!) It takes hard work and dedication. Here are Pretzel Kids yoga - where 99.9% of our teachers are women - our mission means nothing without you.
After you take the Pretzel Kids Yoga Teacher Training, you can go out and launch a kids yoga business, teach one class a week at a local preschool, or even just use your new knowledge to help your own children become less anxious and more confident. If you want our coaching help - which comes with a web page on our site - that’s available too.
Our goal is to train you so that you can go out and teach kids yoga, enriching lives while you achieve your financial goals.
Your success is our success. Are you read to help us close the gender funding gap and start your own kids yoga business? Let’s do this!
Happy International Women's Day!
