About Pretzel Kids®
Pretzel Kids® was developed by Robyn Parets, a Sharon parent and director of Breathe Joy Yoga. Robyn, who often practices yoga with her two sons, decided it was time to offer yoga classes to children in the community (for more information on Robyn and Breathe Joy Yoga, go to www.breathejoyyoga.com).

Yoga, an ancient healing art, has multiple health benefits for children, as well as adults. All children are born natural yogis, with flexible muscles. Yoga, however, encourages children to become even more flexible, while developing strength, balance and focus. And, while working on toning the physical body, yoga give kids the opportunity to relax and alleviate stress.

Strange as it may sound, children are perhaps more stressed out than adults. Homework, sports and activities, and peer pressure all contribute to an anxiety ridden lifestyle. Just think about it: in almost every aspect of your child’s life, he or she must compete. Compete at school to get the best grades. Compete in sports to win. Even compete with themselves. Yet, yoga gives your child an outlet to get fit with no competition or judgement.

Pretzel Kids®, in turn, incorporates traditional yoga postures with fun, imaginative games and relaxation techniques. By using games, breath work, and visualization, children naturally relax and have fun. Games are non-competitive and each child is encouraged to go at his or her own pace. By learning to appreciate what they can accomplish, children also learn to feel comfortable with their bodies and their unique capabilities.
